Boys of Bedlam: I heard Claire Keller-Scholz sing this at Fort Nisqually Living History Museum and had her teach it to our Music Guild. She cites Thomas d'Urfrey as the author of a 1720 poem titled "Mad Maudlin's Search for Her Tom of Bedlam." The hospital of St. Mary Magdalene was the female counterpart of Bedlam, a.k.a. Bethlehem Hospital. This poem reminds me that bedlam has always been part of life.
